Langtang Trek

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Chhiring Doorgee Lama will pick you up from Kathmandu International Airport to bring you to your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Kathmandu to Syabrubeshi 1503m.

6 hour drive in a private 4x4.

Day 3: Syabrubeshi to Gatlang 2238m.

Arrival at the authentic Tamang village of Gatlang.

5 hours of walking with the passage of a small pass Bahun Danda. +700m.

Day 4: Full day visit to Gatlang.

Ascent to the sacred lake Parbati kunda and its old monastery, place of Hindu and Bhudist pilgrimage. - A little higher, visit the community cheese dairy.

Round trip 3 to 4 walk.

Day 5: Gatlang to Tatopani 2607m.

Descent by the river to the village of Chilime 1762m. Then, ascent to Tatopani 2607m.

6 hour walk - 480m +900m

Day 6: Tatopani to Nagthali 3220m.

After a nice climb in the forest, we reach the pretty hamlet of Nagthali with a beautiful view of the Langtang range. we can see monkeys in the forest.

3 hour walk. + 620m.

Day 7: Nagthali to Thuman 2340m.

That day, we head to Thuman, which is a large village with Tamang culture.

In the morning, we climb to 3730m for a magnificent viewpoint above Nagthali: Lantang chain, Ganesh chain and Tibetan border.

3 to 4 hours walk round trip.

After a break for lunch in Nagthali, we continue our way to Thuman.

1 hour descent.

In all 5 to 6 hours of walking +500m - 1200m.

Day 8: Thuman to Briddim 2230m.

We descend through the rhododendron forests to the crossing of the bridge to go up to Briddim, another Tamang community of Tibetan influence located within the Langtang Himal. Most of the houses are made of stone and have split shingle roofs.

5 to 6 hour walk. -700m + 600m

Day 9: Briddim to Thulo Syabru 2260m.

We follow the Bhote Kosi river. Passing through rice fields and corn fields, we descend to Syabrubesi 1500m. Then, We climb a steep path to Thulo Syabru. Nice view of mountains like Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal. We can visit the monastery of this pretty village.

6 hour walk -730m. +760m.

Day 10: Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa 3330m.

The trail climbs steeply until reaching Phoprang Danda at the height of 3190m. beautiful view of Ganesh Himal. We cross a pleasant forest of blue pines. to arrive at Sing Gompa. We can visit the cheese dairy and taste Yak cheese.

5 hour walk. +1070m.

Day 11: Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda Lake 4380m.

We climb regularly to the Gosaikunda lakes.

These are sacred lakes, where Shiva is said to have driven his trident into the ground, creating the small alpine chain of lakes. Every year a great Hindu pilgrimage takes place.

5 hour walk +1050m.

Day 12: Gosaikunda to Cholangpati 3654m.

Today, we can climb to the Col de Laurebina pass 4620m. to admire the view of the Surya Kunda lakes and the Himalayan chain. We descend to Cholangpati.

6 hour walk +230m. -966m.

Days 13: Cholangpati to Dunche 1950m.

We advance towards Dunche passing by the monastery of Sing Gompa (Chandan Bari). Then we cross the Trishuli river to reach Dhunche.

5 hour walk. -1704m

Day 14: Dunche in Kathmandu,

5 to 6 hour drive in a private 4x4.

 

 

Tamang heritage and Gosaikunda Lake Trek

It's a trek off the beaten track in the Langtang Valley. An exploration region rich in meetings with the Tamang population. Authentic villages, monasteries and a warm welcome.

The inhabitants of this valley would be the descendants of the Tibetans of Gurung who would be mixed with the Tamangs.

The Tamang ethnic group includes farmers growing grains and vegetables, foresters, yak and sheep herders.

This easy trek at medium altitude will seduce you with its cultural richness and its landscapes with always in the background the high Himalayan peaks: Langtang Lirung (7225m), Dorje Lakpa (6989m).
